It’s been a month and a half since a 10-year-old girl was arrested in connection with the death of a six-month-old baby in Chippewa County.

For the past several weeks, the Chippewa County District Attorney's office has been reviewing the case. Officials at the DA’s office say the case is being forwarded to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

The incident happened on October 30 at a foster home in Tilden, which also served as an in-home daycare. Officials say the 10-year-old girl told investigators the infant hit his head on a stool and started crying. At that point, they say she panicked, causing injuries resulting in the infant's death.

Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says the girl was due back in court Tuesday but the appearance has been rescheduled.
