From The Rumor Mill: Bobby Lashley set to be added to Championship match at The Greatest Royal Rumble

What's the story?

The Greatest Royal Rumble is now just a week away and it is currently being speculated that there could be another superstar added to the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match.

In case you didn't know...

It has already been announced that Seth Rollins will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Finn Balor, The Miz, and Samoa Joe in Saudi Arabia next week. Rollins became a Grand Slam Champion at WrestleMania when he was able to defeat The Miz and Balor in a triple threat match and it seems that this will be The Miz's official contractual rematch.

The Miz and Samoa Joe have both been moved over to SmackDown Live since this match was announced which makes them unlikely to win the match unless the Championships once again switch brands with Jeff Hardy defending his title against current Raw superstar and former United States Champion Jinder Mahal on April 27th.

The heart of the matter

PWInsider is reporting that local advertisements for the event in Saudi Arabia next week are promoting Bobby Lashley as the fifth member of the Intercontinental Championship ladder match.

Lashley returned to WWE on the Raw after WrestleMania last week and teamed up with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor last week on Raw, but it seems that he could be revealed as one of the competitors in the match next week as part of WWE's flagship show, rather than allowing him to be wasted in the 50-man Royal Rumble.

What's next?

Seth Rollins defends his Intercontinental Championship against Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, and The Miz in a ladder match in Saudi Arabia next Friday night. It is yet to be officially confirmed that Lashley will be part of the match, but it could definitely stack the odds against the Champion further to have someone of Lashley's caliber in the match as well.

Author's take

Bobby Lashley was a huge signing for WWE given his MMA and TNA background and he could be pushed to the top of the company in the absence of Brock Lesnar in the coming months, but it seems that he has to find a starting feud somewhere. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in Saudi Arabia and if Lashley is able to put on a dominant display in a ladder match.
