David Lynch says the reboot as hit complications.
Time to stop jumping around like idiots, Twin Peaks fans. After the remarkable announcement that a third season of the show could premiere on Showtime in 2016 after 25 years off the air. Though there was no official statement, fans had assumed original creator David Lynch would return to direct, though the man himself doubted that at an exhibition in Australia this week.

"I'm not sure at this point if it's happening .We are still working on a contract," he said, "But I love the world of Twin Peaks, and I love those characters. I think it will be very special to go back into that world."

Nevertheless, a Showtime producer told Entertainment Weekly that the reboot was still in production.
"Nothing is going on that's any more than any preproduction process with David Lynch," the source said. "Everything is moving forward and everybody is crazy thrilled and excited."

Another insider told the fan site Welcome to Twin Peaks that the scripts for season 3 are completely finished after nearly 4 years in the making, though that contract negotiations aren't going as expected.
Lynch delighted fans last year when he announced the classic 90's mystery was returning to screens, with lead actor Kyle MacLachlan confirming on January 12 that he would reprise his role as Agent Dale Cooper.
So, the message for Twin Peaks fans is: don't start throwing darts at your David Lynch poster just yet.
