KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Northbound lanes of Interstate 635 are back open after an accident involving a semi in KCK caused a shutdown between Kansas Avenue and Interstate 70 on Wednesday.

Crews were on the scene for nearly 6 hours. Kansas Highway Patrol said a tanker carrying 45,000 pounds of methanol disconnected from the cab, causing a leak in the tanker.

Hazardous Materials crews worked the scene to unload the fuel into another tanker, and clean up the spill.

No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.

All lanes are now back open.
