Crystalborne: Heroes of Fate is a brand new gacha RPG by the makers of Game of War, Machine Zone. It’s a pretty standard example of the genre, though with lots of quality of life features aimed at speeding up progression for genre fans.

In this guide, we’re going to walk you through the experience to help you make the most of it. We’ll explain how it works briefly before moving onto some more specific tips and tricks to help you master it.

If you’re unsure about whether or not it’s worth your time, why not check out our full Review, which details our feelings in full.

Crystalborne: Heroes of Fate Beginner’s Guide

Crystalborne: Heroes of Fate is a pretty standard example of a gacha RPG, so if you’ve played one before this should be pretty familiar. That seems to be a deliberate decision on Machine Zone’s part, who have focused more on quality of life features than innovation.

We recommend starting with the campaign, which provides you with a series of pretty easy missions that you can complete in exchange for resources, XP for your characters, and gear. Then you can move onto the more challenging content like PvP, Bounties, and Guild warfare.

You’ll likely automate your way through the vast majority of battles, so we recommend simply picking your best heroes (in terms of rarity, level, and star rating) and ensuring that your power rating is similar to the enemy’s. We’ve found we’ve won plenty of battles even around 2,000 below, so don’t be afraid to try.

We recommend doing your daily activities, including burning through your PvP currency, energy for campaigns and Guild conquest, and performing all bounties. That way you’ll keep a steady stream of rewards coming in that will mitigate the need to spend your actual cash on anything.

Also, between battles you should keep a steady stream of research flowing in. These provide permanent statistical upgrades for a number of different features, including your hero’s statistics, the rate at which you get free heroes, and much more.

Research is fairly nippy at first but will quickly slow down to a crawl. As long as you’ve always got an upgrade on the go, you should progress quickly enough. It’s a matter of patience.

Lastly, you can get a ton of rewards from completing daily missions and events, so always start here every single day. See what needs doing and prioritising this first before moving onto your general tasks, as you might run out of the energy or resources necessary to complete your dailies.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Pick your best heroes and upgrade them: This goes without saying but if you want to excel in the PvP modes you’re going to have to pick your best heroes and upgrade them. You’ll know which ones are best by their rarity and star level.
  • Always be researching: There are a wide variety of statistical bonuses to unlock in Crystalborne, and you do so by researching them. We recommend that you have something being researched at all times to ensure that you keep progressing.
  • Open your free chests and get your free daily items: You get free chests intermittently, and we recommend opening these as soon as you’re able. They typically become available in 5-10 minute intervals during the beginning.
  • Prioritise achievements, dailies, and events: Each day, check out the daily achievements and new events and prioritise completing them. We’d recommend doing this before you spend all of your energy resources in different areas of the game, as you might run out of energy and miss out on rewards.
  • Spend all of your energy resources every day: If you’ve completed your daily events and resources, you should absolutely spend your remaining energy on whatever’s left. You’ll get a bunch more rewards and every little helps.
