Huntsville donor donates, then steals bag of blood from LifeSouth mobile bloodbank

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Huntsville police responded to an unusual robbery call Tuesday afternoon. Police say the offender wasn't after money or property, but blood.

The LifeSouth Community Blood Center's mobile laboratory was in the 100 block of Providence Main Street. The technician working there said a 21-year-old man came in and donated blood shortly before 5:30 p.m. She said afterward he went out to his car but later returned to the bloodmobile claiming he forgot his identification.

The employee said once this man was inside he grabbed a bag of blood and tried to leave the bus. She told police she blocked the doorway, but he shoved her several times and eventually got past.

Police have not arrested the offender at this time.
