Rincon Police: Driver whose license suspended 12 times in 10 years arrested

From incident reports at the Rincon Police Department:

Sept. 12: Someone kicked in the door of a residence on Tolliver Lane. There was evidence that someone may have been using marijuana and having sex in the back yard.

Sept. 12: A Rincon man said another man has been texting him and blackmailing him. He said the man has accused him of being with his wife.

Sept. 12: A man said someone did a burnout in his front yard on Ridgewood Circle. He suspects his daughter's ex-boyfriend.

Missing daughter

Sept. 12: A Rincon man asked officers to do a welfare check on his daughter, who has a meth problem. He believed she was at a house in West Columbia, S.C. Police there said they checked and discovered that the woman had left that house months earlier.

Sept. 14: A woman said her ex-husband has gotten out of prison and is threatening her and their children.

Sept. 15: A man reported a missing tag on a tractor trailer on Ga. 21. He had last seen the tag three months earlier in Pennsylvania.

Sept. 15: Officers charged a man who was leaving a house on Georgia Avenue with criminal trespass. The man had been told previously to stay away.

Cleaned out

Sept. 15: A woman said after three people cleaned her house on W. 15th Street, $240 was missing.

Sept. 16: An officer pulled over a vehicle on Ga. 21 for having a burned-out headlight. The driver was arrested for driving while license revoked and driving while a habitual violator. 

Sept. 16: A woman said her former boyfriend is harassing her via text and voicemail.

Woman accused

Sept. 17: Kroger employees stopped a woman they said was shoplifting items and putting them in her book bag. The woman denied stealing and repeatedly refused to let officers look in her locked bag. Eventually, her son convinced her to let them check her bag. No stolen items were found in the bag, so she was released.

Sept. 17: An officer stopped a car on Ga. 21 for no working tag lights. The driver, a 19-year-old man from Springfield, was cited for no tag lights and violation of license restrictions and was arrested on a warrant for desertion from the U.S. Army.

Sept. 17: A 30-year-old man from Bluffton was arrested for driving while suspended and being an unlicensed driver. An officer pulled him over after he was looking at a truck that was for sale on Ga. 21.

Honest father

Sept. 17: A man returned two cell phones that his son stole from Wal-Mart. They were valued at $109.76.

Sept. 17: Officers helped direct traffic at a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the county, on Blue Jay Road near Blandford Crossing.

Sept. 18: An officer checked out five males in a car parked behind Macomber Park. Three juveniles were released and two men were arrested and charged - one with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, drugs not in original container and marijuana possession and the other with marijuana possession.

Sept. 18: A woman found a debit card left on the Bank of America ATM machine. She called police. They took the card and returned it to the owner, who was at home.

Aggressive dogs

Sept. 18: A couple residing on E. Williams Street said their neighbor's three dogs have been intimidating them, their son and their guests, preventing them from using their front yard. The owner of the dogs was given a citation for dogs at large, which he wadded up. He said he would take the dogs to the animal shelter on Monday.

Sept. 18: A window was broken on a pickup truck on Ga. 21. The owner suspects her sister.

Sept. 18: A 17-year-old homeless man who said he has been stealing from Wal-Mart to eat was arrested for trying to shoplift $33.93 worth of goods from the store. He fled on a bicycle and officers found him near the Georgian Apartments. He ran on foot and an officer used a stun gun to subdue him.

Sept. 19: A man who said many people are riding four-wheelers on 89 acres where he plans a subdivision said he installed cameras on the property. One of the cameras, valued at $350, was stolen. Plantation Drive.

Sept. 19: A man sent $900 to rent a house in Statesboro that he found on craigslist. An officer said it may have been a scam.

Sept. 19: A 20-year-old Rincon woman was seen on video stealing $93.52 worth of items from Wal-Mart on Aug. 25 and Sept. 15.

Water snafu

Sept. 20: A couple that moved into a family-owned house on Willowdell Court came to City Hall when they realized they hadn't gotten a water bill for two months. Turns out, the city failed to turn off the water as the previous tenant had asked.

Sept. 20: A woman and her friend went to KFC to threaten a worker who mistreated her mother, who also works there. The daughter was given a criminal trespass warning.

Sept. 21: A woman said she left her keys outside apartments on Lisa Street and they were missing.

Sept. 21: The back door was open on a house on Scott Avenue. Nothing was taken.

Sept. 21: An officer stopped a car for going 50 mph in the 35 mph zone on Ga. 21. The driver, a 20-year-old Savannah woman, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects and speeding.

Sept. 22: A Rincon woman said someone used her credit cards to make unauthorized purchases in several states.

Sept. 22: An officer spotted a man riding a bicycle on W. Ninth Street who was wanted on warrants. He was arrested.

Cash stolen

Sept. 22: A resident of Windsong Drive said $600 was taken from her pocketbook. She suspects her son and daughter-in-law.

Sept. 22: An officer stopped a car for running the stop sign at Fourth Street and Ga. 21. A passenger was arrested for marijuana possession and on a warrant.

Sept. 23: Two men were seen on video stealing $2,758.14 worth of jewelry from Wal-Mart at 2:30 a.m.

Sept. 23: A woman was arrested for stealing $34.92 worth of makeup and jewelry from Wal-Mart.

Spice bust

Sept. 24: Rincon officers and Effingham Sheriff's deputies searched two vehicles at the Town Park Inn and found spice and Xanax. Three men were arrested on charges of drug possession, possession of drug-related objects and drugs not in their original container.

Sept. 24: A man and his stepson argued about the stepson going through the man's belongings in his trunk. The man broke the stepson's phone. Middleground Road.

Sept. 24: A woman's ex-husband was seen by a neighbor, driving by her house. He was supposed to stay away, per a court order.

Sept. 24: Four people from the Town Park Inn were found behind Doodle's and Papa John's. They apparently had been smoking spice. They were questioned and released.

Repeat offender

Sept. 25: The automatic tag reader alerted on a vehicle on W. Ninth Street with expired registration. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and the vehicle was towed for no insurance. The driver's license had been suspended a dozen times in the last 10 years.
