Tinchy Stryder has paid tribute to Barry Chuckle after the news that the comedian had passed away age 73.

‘Funny, Down to earth, super cool, talented, humble legend. Rest in peace Barry Chuckle! #ToMeToYouBruv,’ he tweeted.

Tinchy became pals with the Chuckle Brothers – Barry and younger sibling Paul – after they filmed an episode of Celebrity Juice together.

Later, they teamed up for a duet releasing a track called To Me To You (Bruv), based off the Chuckle Brothers famous saying.

Entertainer Barry’s death was confirmed by his manager on Sunday; a statement obtained by Metro.co.uk said: ‘It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family.’

The veteran star – real name Barry David Elliot – worked for decades alongside brother Paul Elliot, 70, and appeared in 300 episodes of the show Chucklevision – one of the longest-running kids’ series on UK television.

Barry with Paul had recently filmed a new series titled ChuckleTime for Channel 5 and he said it was just like the wonderful days of filming ChuckleVision for BBC1.

However Barry hadn’t been well towards the end of the filming and summer work was cancelled whilst he rested at his doctors request.

Unfortunately, according to reps, not long after this, his health deteriorated.

The statement continued: ‘The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of The Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part, the great, great loss they feel.

‘There will be no further comment at the moment and it would be much appreciated if the privacy of Barry’s family is respected at this most difficult time.’

Paul added: ‘I’ve not just lost my brother, I’ve lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend.’

His wife Sue later tweeted on his behalf thanking fans for their ‘lovely messages.’

The tweet read: ‘Paul has asked me to send a message to thank EVERYONE for your lovely messages this morning, he is absolutely devastated so unable to respond himself but your messages really do help and he knows Barry would so happy to know how much he was loved, Sue. X’
