3 students charged in online threat to North Carolina school
Authorities have charged three students after a post on social media suggested there was a gun on a high school campus. It was one of three instances in which weapons were reported at schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a news release that officers responded Tuesday to reports of a weapon on campus at Olympic High School. The school was placed on lockdown.
A social media post depicted several people and a firearm in a neighborhood near the Olympic campus. Three teenagers were arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a minor.
Also, police arrested a 13-year-old at a middle school after he was found with a stun gun. A 19-year-old was arrested at another high school after he was found with a stolen gun.
