IT’S the column that has sent social media into meltdown.

David McCarthy’s piece highlighted just how few fans went to Scottish Cup games at the weekend and was shocking as it was heartbreaking.

The Daily Record chief sports features writer flagged up that a basketball match drew a bigger crowd than seven Cup ties and two league games.

And he wrote his article before it was known last night’s tie between Inverness and St Mirren would pull in just 1326 punters. Depressing.

So what can be done? Lower prices, summer football, better scheduling of fixtures? All these are attractive.

But instead of us just musing, we have asked you the fans how we can get more supporters back to the game we all love.

From our archives: The days when fans flocked to the football:

And the response has been mind-blowing. Thank you so much for getting involved.

We want to do everything in our power to improve Scottish football – but we need your help because it’s you who make the game.

How often do you hear a football chief exec bang on about supporters being the lifeblood of the game – only for them to ignore your pleas.

So we’re asking you to keep sending/tweeting/calling/posting your comments to our Twitter, Facebook,Hotline and email accounts, which can all be found at the bottom of this page. Soon we will even have a page on our website dedicated solely to you the fans.

First, though, here are just some of your ideas that can help get those turnstiles whirring again.
