We doubt Cam’ron will ever really go anywhere, though he did try to–and, to his credit, succeeded for the most part–disappear off the face of the earth between the releases of Killa Season and Crime Pays. Chances are, even when he isn’t “officially” rapping, we’ll still hear from him. However, musically, Cam’ron is making one thing clear: the sequel to his critically-acclaimed 2004 album Purple Haze, Purple Haze 2, will be his last LP. Harlem’s only Gagarin is “retiring.”

In a heartfelt Instagram post in which Cam brings a bottle to his fallen comrade HUD 6, he speaks briefly on the added significant of Purple Haze 2.

Fresh off da flight.. To see my brother.. HUD 6 told me lastnite.. #AChangeGoneCome ..my last album.. #PurpleHaze2 this summer.. It’s been fun.. But HUD said we got other things to do. #Hud6

If Cam sticks to this proposition, it will conclude quite an incredible run of LPs. From his 1998 debut Confessions Of Fire to Crime Pays, Cam has dished out solid albums, hit records, and at least one classic–some argue that Come Home With Me is Cam’s claim to classic, others will postulate that it’s the first Purple Haze album. Regardless, it’ll be exciting to see what Killa has in store next summer.
