VASSAR, MI -- A new era is beginning for Vassar baseball.

And the scoreboard says it all.

Vassar baseball gets a total makeover for the 2015 season, with a new coach, a new field and a new scoreboard awaiting the Vulcans for the Greater Thumb West campaign.

First-year head coach Brady Schuler guides the next generation of Vassar baseball. He begins his tenure with a newly remodeled ballfield and a newly installed scoreboard. Greg Johnson and his Meijer associates kicked in $6,000 to provide the brilliant new scoreboard, according to Schuler.

"It is so big, it makes our old scoreboard look like a bumper sticker," Schuler said.

Steve Cook of Cook GM Superstore in Vassar donated $1,500 for the installation of the scoreboard, Schuler said. It's the capper on a renovation project that includes new sprinklers, grass on the infield, painted dugouts and a seating area at the Vassar diamond.

"I can't express how excited we are to have all these improvements go on this summer," Schuler said. "We will have a new baseball field to play on next spring."
