Last month, actress Brittany Daniel gave fans a doubly surprising shock when she made her return to BET’s “The Game” after three years and then revealed that she left the show to battle stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. Recently, Daniel sat down for an interview with “Sway In The Morning” and discussed her cancer battle and how it affected her acting career.

During her interview with host Sway Calloway, Daniel discussed her battle with cancer and explained that she was upset that she had to walk away from “The Game” without having given her character, Kelly Pitts, a proper ending to her story line.

“It was really wild being away from the show because playing Kelly Pitts is one of my most favorite characters I’ve ever played. So being away, I would feel like, ‘I have to finish this character, I have to finish her voice,’” Daniel explained. “So many of the fans were like, ‘what happened, why did she leave the show?’ It was hard for me to go, ‘Y’all I’m sick.’ It was something that I needed to handle privately but I wanted to be able to tell my fans, ‘It’s not that I don’t love y’all.’”

“So it’s kinda nice to say this is what I’ve been going through and now I’m back. Now I’m able to finish my story line and kinda feel like there’s some completion because Kelly left, and it was like, ‘You got a daughter and what happened?’ So this season is great because I’m able to answer a lot of questions that the fans were wondering what happened,” she added.
