Well, I saw Ledoux fight Leon Spinks to a draw. And I saw Ledoux arguably beat Ron Lyle and Ken Norton. And I watched him beat Marty Monroe. I never saw Wepner beat anyone. In fact, every time I saw Wepner fight, he got beaten up pretty bad. So, I'll take Ledoux.
Scott, definitely. Despite his size, Chuck did not have a big punch. Also, Wepner never really beat anyone really top notch, but Ledoux did. Scott by decision.
I go with LeDoux. Scott was a tough guy, he was not prone to cuts. Wepner's claim to fame is based on 2 things, the Ali fight and him bleeding like a stuck pig.
I can't be sure about this one but one thing I am sure about is if I were given a ringside seat for their fight with free beer and loaded hot dogs I would pass.
Mind you it was an end of the line Norton - Scott drew with but the round ended early with Norton out of it, so Scott could have stopped him which is something Wepner could never have done. As St Paul scribe Don Riley once wrote of Scotty, he went further with less then any other fighter I've known. Scott by clear decision.
I've met both men. I've watched all their major televised bouts. At his best Wepner mauls and brawls for the decision win. Scott was more skilled but I believe Chucks size and strength will win out in the end. Wepner when I met him in the very early 80's was a mountain of a fighter.
