ASHDOWN, AR (KSLA) - Fellow first responders are banding together to support the Arkansas State Police trooper that was badly injured in a crash on Thursday.

The Arden Volunteer Fire Department, Little River County Sheriff’s Department, and Ashdown Police Department are hosting a chili dinner and auction to benefit Cpl. Clayton McWilliams.

McWilliams was responding to another crash Thursday afternoon when he ran off the road and hit a tree in Wilton, Arkansas.

The fundraiser will be held Saturday, January 12 at 5:00 p.m. at the Arden Community Building.

Organizers say the money they raise will help the trooper and his family with medical expenses.

If you would like to donate items for the auction, you can call:

  • Johnny Brown (903) 748-6846
  • Richard Bowman (870) 648-6289
  • or Justin Cooper (903) 824-0016

You can also donate money to help the McWilliams family. There is an account established at Mil-Way Federal Credit Union in Ashdown.
