One Dead, One Hospitalized In Hwy 1 Crash In San Mateo County, CHP Reports
BREAKING: The wreck temporarily blocked the highway Thursday night as emergency workers were on scene.
SAN GREGORIO, CA — One person is dead and another has been airlifted to the hospital after crashing on Highway 1 in San Mateo County, just south of the community of San Gregorio, the California Highway Patrol reports. The crash, which was first reported at 4:12 p.m. Thursday, involved a dump truck and a minivan, according to preliminary CHP reports.
The coroner was called to the scene at 4:38 p.m. and the Redwood City CHP office said via Twitter that a female passenger died at the scene.
Highway 1 was closed in both directions in the area until about 7 p.m.

"Highway 1 at Pomponio State Beach North of Pescadero is closed in both directions due to a traffic collision," an alert from San Mateo County's Alert System at 4:47 p.m. stated. "Closure is expected to be approximately 2 hours. Please use alternate routes until further notice."
