Two of our coastal lighthouses are opening for the season Friday, offering free climbing for one day only.

The Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras lighthouses offically open at 9 a.m.

The National Parks Service is inviting guests to climb the lighthouses for free with tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tickets will be sold on site for the remainder of climbing season, which runs through October 14th. They're $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and children under 11.

The park service is also offering full moon tours of Hatteras and other programming throughout the summer.
