Jane Seymour has hit many milestones in her life: professional ballet debut at 13, a successful actress in her 20s, Golden Globe winner at 45, recipient of the Officer of the British Empire (bestowed upon her by the queen in Buckingham Palace) at 49, and a Playboy model (again) at 67. She’s seen success as a producer, painter, and designer. Now Seymour comes to Wilmington for the StarNews Media Life Expo on Sept. 27 at the Wilmington Convention Center — and we hope she will share some of the secrets to her accomplishments.

The free expo is being presented by New Hanover Regional Medical Center and also includes information about health screenings, financial planning, assisted living, shopping, home improvement ideas, recreation, entertainment and fitness resources.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jane Seymour to our second annual Life Expo,” said StarNews Media publisher Mike Distelhorst. "Her amazing work as an actress, artist, author, designer and champion of several social and charitable causes continues to inspire fans of all ages. We are eager for her to share her 'open heart' philosophy with the Cape Fear region."

Seymour has been a familiar face on movie and television screens since the ’70s, but she is perhaps best known for her iconic role as a female doctor in a small Wild West town in “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.” The trailblazing, family-friendly program ran for six seasons in the ’90s and earned Seymour a Golden Globe win. She’s recently had roles on Pop TV’s aerobic-themed comedy “Let’s Get Physical” and “Jane the Virgin.”

Seymour’s artistic talents led to a partnership with Kay Jewelers. The namesake ‘open heart’ design, inspired by one of her original paintings, launched a collection that now includes more than 400 pieces. Soon after, “Open Hearts” also became the first book in her series about life’s joys, heartaches, and inspirations — and Seymour’s philosophy about the importance of always keeping your heart open. Seymour has also since started her Open Hearts Foundation, which provides funds to charitable health, arts and educational groups. She also works with the American Red Cross and Childhelp, an organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse.

Last year’s inaugural Life Expo featured Vicki Lawrence of “Mama’s Family” fame. This year’s previously announced special guest Henry Winkler is unable to attend because of filming conflicts.
