Inside Steiff, the world-famous toy manufacturer, ahead of Easter

Updated

For many, the arrival of Easter Sunday is not just a religious occasion, but also a reminder that spring is finally arriving -- and what's more synonymous with spring than fluffy, cuddly animals?

Steiff, a Germany-based stuffed animal company, is gearing up for the arrival of Easter, and spring, later this month. The company's world famous teddy bears, recognizable by the buttons in their ears, have been a staple in children's Easter baskets around the world for years. Stuffed giraffes, piglets and other animals are also produced at the manufacturer's factory in Geingen, Germany, which also features a museum and gift shop.

The toy giant's motto, "Only the best is good enough for children," was cemented by Margarete Steiff, who founded Steiff in 1880. Click through the slideshow above to see how Margarete's dream of creating the best children's toys is living on today.
