'I definitely supported my sister. I was proud of her,' she added.

In an interview with USA Today, Natalie said: 'I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying "I'm a virgin" while wearing a bikini, and I was confused. Like, I don't know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl."

Jessica took to social media to say she was disappointed and that 'the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in.'

Meanwhile, Natalie reflected on how the modern 24/7 news cycle feeds on scandal, during an interview at the Build Series in New York City on Thursday.

'The news cycle needs new stories all the time, they’re looking for scandal, controversy, something new always,' said the 37-year-old.

While promoting her new film Vox Lux, the actress commented that 'you get sucked into [scandal] often, much more often than when I was in the public eye 10 years ago.'

But she said the trade off is that the controversy 'has less weight' than it once did.

'The fact that there’s so much out there, dilutes the importance of any particular story. Nothing sticks.'

'Something that’s a big scandal today, tomorrow is someone else’s scandal.'

The Jackie star recently got into a tiff with Jessica Simpson after mentioning the singer's racy outfits.

'I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying 'I'm a virgin' while wearing a bikini, and I was confused,' she said to USA Today. The actress was speaking about the double standards for women, who are expected to be both chaste and sexual at the same time.

After Jessica complained about the Natalie's reaction on social media, the acclaimed actress quickly issued an apology and clarification.

'I completely agree with you that a woman should be allowed to dress however she likes and behave however she likes and not be judged,' she wrote in the comments to Jessica's Instagram post. 'I only meant to say I was confused -- as a girl coming of age in the public eye around the same time -- by the media's mixed messages about how girls and women were supposed to behave.'

Portman made quite an appearance Thursday at BuzzFeed's New York offices with an outfit that looked as if it was stolen from her husband's wardrobe.

The Black Swan star arrived in a blazer big enough to give David Byrne's famous large suit a run for its money.

The Oscar winner is making the rounds for her controversial new film Vox Lux, in which she stars as a tragedy-fueled pop star.

The 5ft3in Academy Award winner wore her massive black and white houndstooth blazer draped over her shoulders like a shawl.

Under it she had on a black mock turtleneck, as well as pressed gray-blue slacks.

Her black ankle strap heels and large black sunglasses added to the conservative outfit.

In Natalie's new film, Vox Lux, a teenage girl who survives a mass shooting skyrockets to pop star status after a song she writes in the wake of the tragedy gains mass attention.

The Star Wars actress plays the character as an adult as she navigates a new national tragedy that threatens to destroy her.

The film has sharply divided critics, both due to its subject matter and Natalie's performance.

Vox Lux is currently in limited release.
