Our long national nightmare soon might be over.

ESPN's "Booger Mobile", the scourge of NFL fans everywhere, will not be part of the network's telecast of Saturday's AFC wild-card game between the Colts and Texans in Houston, the New York Post reports.

The mobile crane from atop which former Buc Booger MacFarland watched games and delivered his analysis on Monday Night Football drew constant criticism throughout the season from fans who couldn't see the field.

McFarland will join play-by-play man Joe Tessitore and analyst Jason Witten in the booth for Saturday's game. Moreover, according to the story, ESPN will re-evaluate after the season whether to bring back the "Booger Mobile" next year.

All signs point to no.

Poor weather kept it sidelined for the final Monday night game between the Raiders and Broncos Dec. 24 in Oakland, and there are no plans to use it during the playoffs or Pro Bowl, according to the Post.

Not only was the contraption a nuisance to fans, it also hindered the broadcast itself, the Post's Andrew Marchand writes.

"While putting McFarland in a high chair on the sideline was an injustice to him, it actually made Tessitore's and Witten's jobs much harder," Marchand writes.

"McFarland could just try to analyze the game, while Tessitore and Witten in the booth had to try to figure out how to incorporate McFarland from the sideline."

And fans paying premium prices for field-level seats had to figure out how to see around him.
