Hanover-area home raided, 2 women charged with dealing drugs

Members of the York County Drug Task Force arrested two women in a Hanover-area home last week and charged them with drug-dealing offenses after seizing heroin, cocaine and cash, according to the York County District Attorney's Office.

Katelyn Courtney Michaels, 24, of the 100 block of Breezewood Lane in Penn Township, remains free on $50,000 bail, charged with two counts of dealing drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.

It was her home that the drug task force raided  Friday, June 15, according to the DA's office.

Chelsea Kelly Nance, 25, of Westminster, Maryland, is charged with the same offenses and free on $75,000 bail, court records state.

Task-force members, armed with a search warrant, seized about 50 grams, or 1.7 ounces, of cocaine and 25 grams of heroin from Michaels' home, as well as drug packaging materials and $16,000 cash, according to the DA's office, which supervises the task force.

They also seized Nance's 2010 Acura TL.

Federal zero-tolerance drug laws allow police to seize personal property that they believe an accused drug dealer used to further his or her trafficking operation.

The women's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, before District Judge Jeffrey Sneeringer.

It is unclear whether Michaels and Nance have retained attorneys.

Assisting the York County Drug Task Force were officers from Penn Township Police and Hanover Police, the DA's office said.
