1. Memorial Day ceremony

The city of Sugar Land will be hosting its annual Memorial Day ceremony to commemorate those who died in service. The event is free and open to the public, and it will begin at 10 a.m. There will also be a vehicle exhibition and vendor booths. 2. Memorial Day observances and dedication

The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission will be hosting a dedication ceremony for a memorial monument as well as the grand parade of “The Pathway of Flags.” The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. and has a featured speaker. 3. Memorial Day celebration

4. Memorial Day at Market Street

Visitors can gather at Market Street’s park for a free Memorial Day celebration for area families that starts at 3 p.m. The party will include music, dancing and soap bubble demonstrations with the Texas Bubblers. 5. Memorial Day run and walk

The Houston Running Co. holiday series continues with a Memorial Day run and walk in honor of veterans. The event includes a 5K, a 10K and a kids K. 7:30 a.m. (5K and 10K start), 9:30 a.m. (kids K start). $20-$50. St. Thomas High School, 4500 Memorial Drive, Houston. www.houstonrunningco.com

6. Memorial Day presentation

The Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans will host a free event to honor the fallen on Memorial Day. The event will kick off at 11 a.m. with the presentation of colors by local students, and attendees are invited to tie ribbons around trees.
