Authorities are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man who they believe jumped from a freeway overpass onto Interstate 40 and was struck by a commercial truck with a travel trailer Wednesday in Flagstaff.

Flagstaff Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety are investigating the death of Logan Flake as a possible suicide, Flagstaff police said in a news release Thursday.

Flake jumped from the overpass shortly after 5 p.m. into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes of I-40 and was then struck by the truck.

According to police, a suicide note was found in Flake's possession and several witnesses tried to convince Flake not to jump.

The truck driver was not observed to be impaired, according to the police. The incident caused Interstate 40 to be backed up for an extended period.

The roadway was clear and the investigation at the scene is complete as of Thursday morning. However, the specifics of the collision and cause of death are still under investigation by Flagstaff police and DPS, according to news release.
