Following the success of Rooster Teeth's RWBY and Red vs. Blue, the studio is preparing to debut a star-studded new anime-style series, gen:LOCK, which features the vocal talents of David Tennant, Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, and Maisie Williams.
In gen:LOCK, on the losing side of a global war, Earth’s last free society recruits a diverse team of young pilots to control the next-generation of mecha — giant, weaponized robot bodies. These daring recruits will find, however, that their newfound abilities come at no small cost. Tennant plays Dr. Weller, the head of the Experimental Science Unit, tasked with identifying potential new recruits for Colonel Marin (voiced by Monica Rial), who leads the resistance's Vanguard army.
IGN has an exclusive sneak peek at the fourth teaser trailer for the new show, which introduces two new recruits just as the war is intensifying - Valentina “Val” Romanyszyn (Asia Kate Dillon), a former Ukrainian covert agent who thought they were done fighting, and Robert Sinclair (Blaine Gibson), an experienced American ranger.
Jordan (who also serves as executive producer on the series) voices the lead character, Julian Chase, while Fanning (The Alienist) plays expert mech pilot and Chase’s love interest, Miranda Worth. Kōichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell) voices Kazu Iida, one of the new recruits transferring from Japan’s military forces, to fight alongside Chase in the gen:LOCK program; and Williams (Game of Thrones) plays Cammie MacCloud, a mischievous Scottish hacker with boundless energy, and the youngest recruit to the gen:LOCK program. Additionally, Lindsay Jones (Ruby Rose in RWBY) will voice Razzle, Chase’s squadron leader; Miles Luna (Jaune Arc in RWBY) will play Miguel “Migas” Garza, Chase’s best friend; Gray G. Haddock (showrunner for gen:LOCK and voice of Roman Torchwick in RWBY) will portray Leon, a mech unit leader, and Chad James (voice of Boomstick in DEATH BATTLE) will voice Jodie, a mech pilot and close friend to Miranda.
gen:LOCK premieres January 26, 2019 on Rooster Teeth, which is available on iOS, Android, Xbox One, Apple TV, and at RoosterTeeth.com with memberships starting at $4.99 a month.
