Halloween in the Park, normally held in Lucy Park, was moved indoors to Scotland Park Elementary School's gymnasium.

The venue change didn't stop over hundred children and their parents from donning their costumes a week early to vie for awards in the annual costume contest.

Over a hundred children play a variety of carnival games and particpate in a costume contest at the city of Wichita Falls' Halloween in the Park Saturday afternoon at the Scotland Park Elementary School gymnasium.

A dinosaur in a tutu, cartoon characters Tom and Jerry, an Abe Lincoln penny, an elderly toddler, a few Greek goddesses and robots all took their turn in front of the judges.

This year, the judges weighed multiple categories – from most creative to easily recognizable and whether the costume was scary, cute or funny – to determine the winners.

In addition to the costume contest, attendees could by a $5 wristband and play a variety of carnival games around the gym for candy prizes.

The event is hosted by the city of Wichita Falls' recreation department.
