Hawthorne Heights (and local openers) will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at The Wakehouse Woodfire Grill and Barrel, 850 N. Kings River Road in Reedley.

“Ohio is for Lovers” is not only Hawthorne Heights’ most well-known song, but it’s the mantra they taught the country when they hit MTV and radio stardom in the mid-2000s.

The group put their hometown of Dayton, Ohio back on the musical map and broke down mainstream doors for their contemporaries — neighbors both geographically and genre-wise. In Hawthorne’s wake, other Dayton bands like The Devil Wears Prada and Nightbeast rose to some national prominence.

The band has become the face of Dayton in the national eye, no doubt to the chagrin of Guided by Voices fans.

Now, Hawthorne Heights comes to the Valley, performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at The Wakehouse Woodfire Grill and Barrel in Reedley.
