Topeka police are investigating what they believe to be a cutting or stabbing that happened early Saturday in southeast Topeka.

Sgt. Kristin Marr said officers were called to Stormont Vail Health just before 5:30 a.m. on the report that a 38-year-old white male had walked into the emergency room of the hospital suffering from a chest wound.

Marr said that the man had said he fell on a broken glass bottle and was “uncooperative” with officers.

“He won’t say anything,” she said.

Although there wasn’t any crime scene tape visible, officers were stationed in front of a house at 3906 S.E. Fremont on Saturday morning where the front door was open. It’s believed the victim resides at that address, Marr said.

Gina R. Altamirano and Jason S. Gomez are listed on the Shawnee County Appraiser’s website as owners of the house.
