The School District of the Menomonie Area was awarded $168,808 for improving safety measures in the school district.

It was announced by Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel on Tuesday.

The district says it will use the money to install shatter resistant film on primary and secondary entrances, to purchase crisis response kits for building offices, provide training for staff, and to improve building security.

The School District of the Menomonie Area would like to thank the Menomonie Police Department, Police Chief Eric Atkinson, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, and Captain Kevin Bygd for assisting the school district with the grant application.
