An Iowa man who was caught on video sexually abusing a 1-year-old will not be facing any jail time.
Kraigen Grooms, now 19, was 17 years old when he was arrested in 2014 by federal authorities targeting a child pornography ring that involved hundreds of victims in 37 states.
Dubbed “Operation Round Table,” the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations Team arrested 14 people suspected of producing and distributing child porn.
Grooms was one of the suspects arrested after he was seen on video sexually abusing a baby.
Investigators believe he may have been targeting another child at the time of his arrest.
Grooms has been in jail for the past two years awaiting trial after he pled guilty to one count of engaging in a lascivious act with a child.
But Wapello County Judge Randy Degeest sentenced him to a 10-year suspended prison sentence after accepting Grooms’ guilty plea. He will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
