Dwayne Johnson, ‘Shazam’ Movie: The Rock To Play Villain Black Adam, or Shazam? Stand Alone Movie Or Character Only In DC Adaptation

Superheroes have been ruling the widescreen since Superman in 1978. While Marvel has been very aggressive in releasing superhero films recently, DC is hot on its heels.

Warner Bros. reportedly confirmed having 11 DC Comics movies through 2020. The first being "Batman vs. Superman", other titles have been merely drafted. While Shazam is in the list, whether the character will be developed as part of the other DC movies or a stand-alone movie remains to be decided upon.

Shazam, more commonly known as Captain Marvel, is the alter ego of a boy named Billy Batson. His powers reveal itself when he utters "Shazam!" and is instantly transformed into this huge superhero.

Shazam is actually an acronym of the powers Billy Batson gains. He is filled with the power of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury.

Way back in 2007, Dwayne Johnson also known as "The Rock", had been eyeing to develop "Shazam" for Warner Bros., but the project did not progress. That time, Johnson was torn between playing the role of Shazam, and the super villain, Black Adam. This tough choice faces him once more as the talks on "Shazam" movie arise.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Johnson confirmed that he will be part of "Shazam" however is still unsure which character to play. Although Shazam is the lead character, Johnson expresses his fondness for the villain.

Johnson dropped hints with Total Film Magazine, "There's a character out there that we're gonna announce very soon that I'm gonna play, and I'll just say this-it's the power of Superman."

Nothing concrete on the production of "Shazam", except that Shazam will be seen in theaters-may be as a cast member of a DC Comics movie, or in a stand-alone movie carrying his name. Hopefully, but the time Warner Bros. decide, Dwayne Johnson has done so between the hero and the villain.
