Spend your weekend on Netflix with Bill Nye and Girlboss

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22. All times are Eastern.

Top picks

Bill Nye Saves The World, Girlboss, etc. (Netflix, Friday): We guess dropping a new season of MST3K last week wasn’t enough for the streaming service, as Netflix follows up with a whole new crop of shows just in time for this weekend. Besides science guy Bill Nye saving the world and the fashion business troubles of Girlboss, there’s: Hot Girls Wanted, an unsettling documentary on amateur porn; a new film involving “a heist, a stolen briefcase, and a case of mistaken identity” called Tramps; Tales By Light, a series that involves following famous photographers around; and Sand Castle, an Iraq War drama starring Nicholas Hoult and Henry Cavill. Looks like Netflix is trying to get its digs in before the weather finally turns and we ditch TV for the summer. Hahahaha. Like we ever go outside anyway.

Regular coverage

RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1, Friday, 8 p.m.)
Doctor Who (BBC America, Saturday, 8 p.m.)
Class (BBC America, Saturday, 9:05 p.m.)
Samurai Jack (Adult Swim, Saturday, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

The New Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show (Netflix, Friday): Netflix didn’t even leave the kids behind, as it churns out the fourth season of this delightful series. Somehow The New Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show is wholly reverent to the beloved original series even as it adds—dare we say—some modern improvements. One of those that you may enjoy as much as the kids do. We know, people say that all the time, but it’s actually true in this case; just try it out.
