Brian Koscher Obituary

Brian Edward Koscher

1960 - 2015 SIMSBURY, CT Brian Edward Koscher died unexpectedly on Friday, August 28, 2015. Brian was born on September 5, 1960 in Pittsfield, MA to Sheila (Kelly) and Edward Koscher. During his youth his family moved several times but returned to Pittsfield for Brian's teen years. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1978. He went on to attend Boston College where he formed lifetime friendships and met his best friend and future wife, Christine Boswell. They graduated in 1982 and were married in 1985, having their first child, daughter, Michaela in 1990, followed by son, Brendan in 1993. Brian began his 33-year career in 1982 with Dexter, which later became Ahlstrom. He held a variety of sales, marketing, operations, and management positions over the years. His job required him to travel extensively to destinations around the world for many years, which Brian thoroughly enjoyed, but as his children became active in sports and other activities, Brian chose to transition into the operations side of the business so he could be home to coach soccer and baseball teams, and participate in their other activities. Brian enjoyed sports both as a player and spectator. One of his most cherished memories was watching his son, Brendan, get to say "Play Ball" to open a Red Sox game at Fenway Park on Father's Day 2003. Brian was known for his wittiness and one-liners, his love and knowledge of music, and his Trivial Pursuit prowess but most importantly, he was known as a loving family man. He was the consummate gentleman, dependable and supportive, and convivial in every setting. Dearest to him were his wife, Chris, daughter, Michaela, and son, Brendan. Brian loved spending time with his extensive network of family and friends. Brian is also lovingly survived by his mother, Sheila Koscher of Pittsfield, father, Edward Koscher of Vero Beach, FL, sisters, Nancy Koscher of Oakland, CA, Susan Lacey and husband, Joseph of Charlestown, MA, and Karen Jones and husband, Nicholas of Alpharetta, GA. FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no calling hours. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5th at 10a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, followed by a reception celebrating his life at The Riverview, 10 Winslow Place, Weatogue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the "Simsbury Farms Complex Brian Koscher Memorial Fund" 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box, 417005, Boston, MA 02241. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Brian's "Book of Memories" at : www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.

Dear Family of Brian's, It is April 27, 2016 and I just this moment heard of Brian's passing through our PHS Classmate, Jeff Morris.
Brian was truly a special person, and I only had the fondest of memories of his humor and sincere friendship through our teenage years.
It was a pleasure to see him at Class reunions, and he will truly be missed by each and every class member.
Hope the time passed has eased your pain, but know he will be in many many people's hearts forever.

Our thoughts are with all of those who knew Brian as he was a very special man. I had the pleasure of knowing Brian professionally and personally. He was always the consummate professional and very good at what he did at Dexter/Ahlstrom. Personally, Brian to me was the funniest man I've ever met. His intellect, quick wit, and "man's man" humor just made me constantly laugh - especially during our annual golf trips. We will all miss him terribly.

Sheila, Ed, Christine, children and sisters, I wanted to express my and my children's deepest sympathies of the loss of Brian who I remember so well as a wonderful young man at BC and a lifelong friend of my son, Mark. I remember how much of a gentleman he was and later when I had the good fortune to see him when he lived nearby in Canton he was always so considerate and kind. May God bless him and you in the days ahead. - Marie Clausen-Corcoran

I send my deepest condolences to all of Brian's family. Without a doubt, Brian was one of the nicest men I have had the pleasure to know. His warmth and wit were contagious, and he brightened up all of us who worked with him. The world is a sadder place after his loss, and I will remember him forever. I wish you all God's blessing at this sad time, and in the future. Sincerely, Mark Berman (colleague at Ahlstrom).

I am in shock at the loss of Brian whom I saw only a few short weeks ago. I can only try to imagine the loss to the entire Kosher family and offer my condolences to all. Brian and I met many years ago skating and, as one of the "senior" hockey players, we would joke about ourselves, our younger fellow skaters and life in general. Brian was warm, funny and a consummate gentleman, a true sportsman as well as a great friend. He has been called to play at a higher level now, much much to soon - and will be dearly missed by all.

My heartfelt condolences to everyone in the Koscher family. I had the great pleasure of playing hockey regularly with Brian over the years and bonding with him over laughs in the locker room and while reminiscing about our alma mater, Boston College. I came to know Brian as one of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. We all thought the world of him and enjoyed being in his presence. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that he is in our prayers and we will always remember him fondly.

Hi Christine,
I am sorry about Brian.
I met Brian and his roommate Mark junior year of college and life for me changed for the better. Brian's sense of humor and joy for life is what drew me too him. I have two very distinct memories of Brian, his singing of the song Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms on the Cape whenever the guitars came out. And him in the middle of that Kinks poster dancing with his headband on, forever young.
In short, Kosch knew how to have fun and it was infectious. -Bruce

I am incredibly sad over Brian's passing and offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Brian was a regular contributor to the comic relief of our weekly Tuesday night pick-up hockey games. I quickly grew to respect him for his tremendous wit and wisdom. I'll miss seeing him at the rink but take comfort knowing he'll be there with us in spirit.

God bless you, Brian. May you rest in peace.
