Work due to start on A82 defects.

Byline: Alastair McNeill

Work was due to begin this week on roads in north-west Stirling district which have been severely damaged by winter weather.

Residents living by the A82 between Crianlarich and Tyndrum had contacted Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford about the deteriorating condition of the trunk road.

The MSP then raised CONCERNSWITHTRANSPORT Scotland.

The body's chief executive Roy Brannen, in response to Mr Crawford, pointed out that recent severe weather had delayed in work commencing on trunk roads in the Stirling area.

Weather permitting, work was due to commence this week.

Mr Crawford said: "Long periods of wet weather and freezing temperatures have caused serious damage to roads networks across the country.

"I am pleased that so-called category one defects in our roads are being prioritised with temporary fillers, with a permanent repair due within 28 days following that.

"Whilst this response is encouraging, I would urge local residents to let BEAR Scotland know of any further defects by filling out the online form at nw. bearscot.com.

"Alternatively, contact my office on 01786 471 899 or Bruce.Crawford. [email protected]."
