Anne F. Goodrich RUTLAND - Anne F. Goodrich, 96, of Rutland, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at her home, with her family at her side. She was born in Rutland Aug. 11, 1922, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Moriarty) Francis. Anne was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy class of 1940. She received an associate degree from Rutland Business College. On Jan. 29, 1949, she married Russell J. Goodrich. Anne was employed at Rutland Business College after graduation as an instructor of the evening accounting classes. She worked for GMAC, retiring after 26 years. She also worked for AT&T, the RCT and ME Credit Union for many years. She worked for the Vermont Department of Corrections, retiring after 29 years at the age of 87. She also volunteered with her sister-in-law at the First Aid Station at the Vermont State Fair, as well as a Red Cross record clerk for local blood drawings. Anne was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, serving as a greeter for many years. She was a member of St. Anne’s Society and the Court Gaffney Catholic Daughters of America. Anne enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed all the time spent with them, as well as watching wildlife from her deck and camp on Lake St. Catherine. She served her community of Rutland Town on the Board of Civil Authority, as auditor and justice of the peace. During World War II, she was an air raid warden and Red Cross volunteer nurse’s aide at the old Rutland Hospital. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at the Rutland Hospital for many years. Anne was a member of the senior division of the Civil Air Patrol in North Clarendon. Holding the position of adjutant, she participated with her husband, Lt.Col. Russell J. Goodrich, on many search and rescue missions. She was an avid traveler, traveling around the country and world with her family and dear friends. She was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 117 at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. She enjoyed the sports of skiing, both water and snow, tennis, speed skating and horseback riding. Speed skating as a young lady was her passion, winning many events at the Rutland Rotary, as well as winning a bronze medal at the Proctor Winter Carnival as a teen in the adult woman's speed skating event. She was also a member of the Otter Ski Patrol. Surviving are two sons James Goodrich and wife Karon, of Cape Cod, MA, and Richard Goodrich and wife Bonnie, of Rutland Town; grandchildren Russell J. Goodrich II and Katie Stratton, of Bennington, Chenoa Goodrich and Michael Davis, of Troy, NY, James N. and Julie Goodrich, of Canton, MA, Kevin Goodrich and Hope Goodrich, of Cape Cod, MA, Adam and Brittany Butler, of FL; great-grandchildren Alexander and Annabelle Goodrich, of Canton, MA, Collin Davis, of Troy, NY, Oliver J. Goodrich and Kelsey Schoff, of Bennington; and many nieces and nephews, especially Maria, Michael and Christine, Bruce and Debbie Rodd and “The four J’s;” and her sister-in-law, Claire Gurney, of Holden, MA; her special friends Sherman Hunt, Barbara Lester, Jean Clifford and Tim Solari. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell J. Goodrich, in 1966; her parents; her sisters Charlotte Rodd, Rita Francis, Jean Bachand and Mary Baccia; and a brother, Michael Francis. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow with family and friends in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Rutland. A reception will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
