The Mthatha National Intervention Unit members conducted an operation coded Siyanqo at Manyosini A/A Maqwathini locality in the early hours of 26 October 2018 and two suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms.
A 23 year old man was arrested for possession of a 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition with its serial number filed off.
In a separate incident a 29 year old man was arrested for possession a 9mm pistol with 9 rounds and with its serial number filed off.
Both suspects will be caused to appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court on Monday 29 October 2018.
The Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Nomawethu Makonza applauded these members. “Let us not give space for criminals in our society. Let’s collect these illegal firearms and save people’s lives.” She added.
