Oregon woman missing after leaving wedding died of blunt force trauma, authorities say

Meighan Cordie

A 27-year-old woman found dead near Dayton Thursday after being missing since Saturday died from blunt force trauma, according to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

An investigation is ongoing to determine what led to the death of Meighan Cordie and how she was injured, said Capt. Chris Ray, a Yamhill County Sheriff's Office spokesman. He declined to release any more information on the autopsy results saying it could hamper the police investigation.

Authorities said Cordie went missing after leaving a wedding south of Dayton around 10:30 p.m. She had an argument with her mother while driving home and at some point walked away from her parent's car barefoot and without her cellphone.

A drone and fixed-wing plane were among the tools used to help searchers on the ground look for Cordie, the daughter of a fire department captain in Clackamas County.

Joggers discovered Cordie five days after she went missing at the bottom of an embankment north of Dayton. No arrests have been announced in the case.
