Malvern Theatres has announced a full programme of reopening events including a world premiere and work from two of Britain’s greatest living playwrights.
The Festival Theatre will reopen with the Cold War thriller A Splinter of Ice presented by Original Theatre Company. Oliver Ford Davies plays Graham Greene and Stephen Boxer is Kim Philby in Ben Brown’s new play which runs from Tuesday 8 until Saturday 12 June.
Jodie Prenger is in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s musical Tell Me on a Sunday from Tuesday 15 until Saturday 19 June.
Alan Ayckbourn’s comic masterpiece Absurd Person Singular, a social satire set in 1970s suburbia, is at Malvern from Tuesday 29 June until Saturday 3 July before Michael Frayn’s Copenhagen, an historical detective story set in Nazi-occupied Denmark, takes over from Monday 5 until Saturday 10 July.
Theatre Royal Bath Productions will present Jonathan Slinger and Rosie Sheehy in David Mamet’s Oleanna from Monday 12 until Saturday 17 July.
Ralph Fiennes will take to the stage in a world première adaptation of T S Eliot’s Four Quartets which “offers four interwoven meditations on the nature of time, faith and the quest for spiritual enlightenment”. Eliot wrote most of it during World War II when the closure of playhouses during the Blitz interrupted his theatre work. It will be at the Festival Theatre from Monday 19 until Saturday 24 July.
Charlie and Stan, the “remarkable” story of Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel who almost became a comedy double act, runs from Monday 16 until Saturday 21 August.
