A new monthly concert series will start on Jan. 19 with performances by Meadow Mountain and Ran Off the Rooster at the Historic Park Theatre. The Upstream Concert Series, presented by Upstream Enterprises, will hold concerts each month at the Historic Park Theatre, from January to June, leading up to the nearby outdoor SnowyGrass Music Festival in July, according to Upstream Enterprises owner Nadine Sekerez.

This concert series is an opportunity to enrich the music scene in Estes Park and provide another entertainment option for the offseason, Sekerez said. She hopes this concert series helps contribute to the culture of live music in Estes Park that has begun with great events by the Stanley Hotel and festivals like Friends of Folk, Mountain Music and Winterfest.

The Upstream Concert Series has some unique features, including its location and contributions to local causes. Park Theatre is the oldest motion picture theatre in the United States, this concert series provides an opportunity to experience this historical landmark.

“It is a great venue with a wonderful atmosphere,” Sekerez said. “It is an iconic destination in Estes Park.”

In addition to the unique location, another exciting feature of the concert series is the contributions to local causes and non-profits. Five dollars of each ticket sale is donated as well as 20 percent of sponsorships. The concert on Jan. 19 will be raising money for the Quinn Brett recovery fund, according to Upstream Enterprises.

The concert series would not be possible without the help of the sponsors, Sekerez said. They include Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ, Estes Park News, Glacier Creek Construction, Fall River Village, Tom Thomas of First Colorado Realty, Rocky Mountain Day Hikes, Snowy Peaks Winery, Ed’s Cantina, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Quality Inn.

“In my view the sponsors are the rock stars, without their support we could not have these community events,” Sekerez said.

A sold out show can raise over $1,100 for a local cause or non-profit. More information on the concert series can be found at snowygrass.com or on the Upstream Enterprises in Estes Park Facebook page.

The second concert will take place on Feb. 9 and feature Bridget Law of Elephant Revival and Silas Herman of Gipsy Moon with the big band Latin sounds of ONDA.
