Free Drum Performance Kicks Off CAC's ARTSventures: WATCH Preview

The free performance will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Douglas County Library.

Douglasville, GA – The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is kicking off 2018 with Family ARTSventures! The free performance will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. for Drumming Up the Stories, at the Douglas County Library.

Drumming Up the Stories performance is a high-energy, rhythm-based storytelling experience that is guaranteed to spark the imagination and kindle a love of reading. In this 45-minute performance, children learn how the drum was first used to communicate, how music can enhance storytelling and how instruments can be created from ordinary objects.Holland will also be performing two shows for different grade levels at Chestnut Log Middle School in February.

Family ARTSventures! is a program designed to introduce performing artists into the schools with curricula-based programs, followed by an appearance at a public event for children and adults alike to enjoy.

Beatin’ Path Rhythm Events is a team of professional performers, facilitators and teaching artists who believe in the power of rhythm to create high impact experiences and long-lasting connections!

Leading this team is Dave Holland, one of Atlanta’s most regarded figures in rhythm-based facilitation, world percussion and teaching artistry. Dave’s dedication to world culture and music has taken him around the globe to study from master performers, bringing those experiences back to the U.S. to create memorable assembly programs, workshops, and residencies.

Funding to make “Family ARTSventures!” possible comes from the GreyStone Power Foundation, Georgia Council for the Arts and the Douglas County School System. Dave Holland will be followed by Wendy Bennett on March 10th at the Dog River Library at 10:30 am.
