STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A 64-year-old man allegedly was involved in a drunken crash on Amboy Road in Bay Terrace on Thursday night, according to police.
Daniel Mongelli, 64, of Rubenstein Street in Arrochar, allegedly was behind the wheel of a 2014 Honda involved in a crash at Amboy Road and Spratt Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD's Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
Mongelli's Honda allegedly crossed the double yellow lines and struck a 2015 Jeep head-on at that location, according to police.
The 33-year-old man behind the wheel of the Jeep did not go to the hospital, according to police.
An ambulance rushed Mongelli to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. Police responded to the hospital where it was determined that Mongelli was not seriously injured, but was allegedly intoxicated.
The suspect has been charged by police with driving while intoxicated.
