AP: Oprah picks Franzen's `Freedom' for book club. Oprah Winfrey has selected Jonathan Franzen's "Freedom" as her latest book club pick, and it has taken a few people by surprise, according to the Associated Press. Franzen famously criticized the talk show host back in 2001 when she chose his book "The Corrections" for her book club, calling her choices "schmaltzy" and eventually getting himself uninvited from her show.

CNN: Taking a Stand: Muhammad in the Age of Jihad. Spiritual guru Deepak Chopra has a new book coming that he calls a "fictionalized biography" of the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Chopra blogs about the motivation behind the book in a recent post on CNN.com, saying: "Who really knows Muhammad? Muslims do, but the latest poll shows that over 60 percent of Americans know little or nothing. So I set out to give everyone a page turner about Muhammad that captures every facet of a life that has endless facets."

NPR: Roald Dahl: The Story Of The 'Storyteller' . Roald Dahl is best known for his brilliant children's books, including "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory," but he had a fascinating and varied life before his writing career took off. Dahl's early life is recounted in "Storyteller: The Authorized Biography of Roald Dahl" by Donald Sturrock. NPR has an interview with Sturrock and an excerpt from the book.
