Longer delays hit shipments of Oculus Rift

It appears customers who were among the early ones to order the Oculus Rift are facing a harsh reality.

Oculus Rift is a VR goggle created by Palmer Luckey and purchased by Facebook.

According to multiple complaints spotted on Reddit and Twitter, consumers who pre-ordered the Rift have seen their virtual reality headset shipments delayed by as long as two months.

"Pre-ordered within 6 minutes, est. shipping window is now 5/2-5/12," says Reddit users darkfiber on a thread detailing Rift delays.

Similar complaints have popped up on Twitter, with some weighing whether to cancel their orders.

Last week, Oculus emailed customers about delays due to an "unexpected component shortage." The company recently sent a follow-up message to customers with updated shipment windows.

In a tweet posted Tuesday, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey says the company is "doing our best" to get shipments out to consumers.
