MA Has Country's Best Pizzeria: TripAdvisor

We beat New York (again!) See where to grab a slice.

BOSTON, MA — First the Red Sox beat the Yankees. Now we are winning the pizza war, too.

Boston's Pizzeria Regina in the North End topped Manhattan's famed Bleecker Street Pizza to be named the best pizzeria in the country, TripAdvisor said this week.

The top 10 list was "based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor diners," the popular travel website said. Recent reviews were given more weight than older ones.

Here's what TripAdvisor had to say about Regina's:

"Since 1926, guests have been flocking to Boston's 'Little Italy' in the North End for a taste of Regina's famous brick-oven, thin-crust pizzas. At this local staple, known as 'Boston's original pizzeria,' diners wait in line for the spicy sauce, salty cheese and fresh, local ingredients."

The website points to The Giambotta as Regina's signature slice: "topped with pepperoni, Regina sausage, salami, mushrooms, peppers, onions, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese."

Here what TripAdvisor diners had to say, according to the site

"Perfect chewy, thin crust, lots of fresh mozzarella; the sauce has great fresh tomato flavor. This pizza was very reminiscent of pizza I had in Naples and I haven't found anything like it in the U.S. until now."

Overall, Boston was ranked as the No. 7 pizza city in a top 10 list led by New York.
