Regis Philbin will headline The Providence Journal's Life Expo on Saturday.

PROVIDENCE — Seniors and baby boomers will have an opportunity Saturday to meet longtime TV personality Regis Philbin, participate in health screenings, explore assisted-living options and learn more about financial planning, fitness and other topics at The Providence Journal's Life Expo.

The free event at the Rhode Island Convention Center features a live cooking demonstration, a Zumba dance lesson, bingo, live performances by Elvis and Sinatra tribute artists and other musicians, dance performances by The Talent Factory and a talk about identity theft by retired state police Col. Brendan P. Doherty, who is now director of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island's special investigations unit.

"The Journal is excited to host the Life Expo and provide Rhode Islanders with fun entertainment, helpful health information and connections to local businesses," Journal President and Publisher Janet Hasson said.

Philbin will make a presentation and answer questions at 2 p.m.

Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most hours spent on U.S. television, Philbin hosted "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" on ABC from 1999 to 2002. He won a Daytime Emmy for outstanding game show host for that show and another Emmy as outstanding talk show host for his syndicated program, "Live with Regis."

Attendees are encouraged to preregister at providencejournal.com/life, where they'll be entered to win VIP tickets to meet Philbin. More details are also available at that site about parking and vendors, who will offer samples, and demonstrate and sell their products and services.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is sponsoring the expo, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 29.
