OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — The Okaloosa County School District assistant superintendent for human resources has resigned from her position following an abuse case involving a boy with special needs.
Stacie Smith has been charged with three felony counts of failing to report child abuse. She turned herself into authorities on Monday.
Her arrest and resignation are the latest in the investigation into the allegations of child abuse at Kenwood Elementary.
Teacher Marlynn Stillions, Principal Angelyn Vaughn, and District Investigator Arden Farley were arrested in 2017 in the case.
State Attorney Bill Eddins hopes to present his findings from the investigation to a grand jury in the next few weeks.
