This is the moment a man filmed himself poking a turtle with a stick - only for the creature to attack him with incredible speed.
The footage, thought to have been taken in North America, shows someone prodding the animal before it suddenly takes off with its jaws open, sending the man and his camera flying.
Earlier, the video shows what is thought to be a snapping turtle, found in parts of the US and Canada, on a gravel driveway.

The man can be heard shouting out as the airborne creature strikes before appearing to drop his camera momentarily

The furious creature shifts around to face the man who then backs away to find a stick before zooming in on its face.
But snapping turtles are known for defending themselves if cornered out of water - and this one was no exception.

It suddenly opens its jaws and jumps up causing the man to shout out and drop his camera. Seconds later he can be heard laughing.
Snapping turtles are capable of pulling their heads back in under their shells before springing up at attackers.
According to the Tortoise Trust, they will often leap up to defend themselves with their jaws open but will stop short of biting.
