Woman Forged Pair Of Checks; Driver Drunk In 2-Car Crash: Blotter

Northbrook Police Blotter: June 8 - June 14

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Just because someone gets arrested does not mean they will be found guilty of anything by a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged two mailboxes in the 3200 block of Riverfalls Drive between 9 p.m. on June 7 and 8 a.m. on June 8.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Shannon Road resident reported at 5 p.m. on June 7 that a package had arrived included two Apple iPhones for their Verizon account. The phone had never been ordered.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Smith Road resident reported on the afternoon of June 8 that someone had intercepted a credit card delivered to their mailbox. About $12,000 in unauthorized charges were made to the account.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Big Oak Circle resident reported at 3:33 p.m. on June 10 that someone had used their social security number to get a job.

THEFT
Someone stole four packages from the front porch of a home in the 2900 block of Techny Road sometime prior to 10:17 p.m. on June 10, police were told.

THEFT
Someone stole about $700 from a drawer inside a senior living facility in the 0-100 block of Pointe Drive.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Midway Road resident reported at 1:17 p.m. on June 12 that someone had opened up several unauthorized credit card accounts using their personal information.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Briarwood Lane resident reported at 6:13 p.m. on June 12 that someone had opened an unauthorized credit account using their personal information.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 300 block of Chipili Drive reported that someone broke into their home between June 9 and June 12 and stole various electronic items.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Campden Lane resident reported around 1 p.m. on June 13 that a credit monitoring company had alerted them that someone tried to use their social security number in unspecified circumstances.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone smashed a back window of a car parked in the 1700 block of Techny Road and snatched a purse with credit cards, cash and identification cards inside sometime prior to 7:49 p.m. on June 13, police were told.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 25-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 11 p.m. on June 8 and charged with driving with a suspended license, expired plates and no insurance following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow Road and Founders Drive.

Abner Garcia-Rivas, 34, of the 500 block of Bank Lane in Highwood, was arrested at 12:02 a.m. on June 9 on an active Lake County arrest warrant and was charged with driving while his license was revoked following a traffic stop near the intersection of Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard. He was also cited for improper lane usage.

A 38-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 7 p.m. on June 9 and charged with driving with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop near the intersection near Walters Avenue and First Street.

Ileana Lizette Munoz, 25, of the 3700 block of West Giddings Street in Chicago, was arrested at 9:27 p.m. on June 9 and charged with possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and I-294. Police smelled weed, searched the car and found a plastic bag with a white powder inside.

Waclaw Marin Kubiak, 66, of the 8800 block of Jody Lane in Des Plaines was arrested at 5:31 p.m. on June 11 near the intersection of Landwehr and Willow roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being involved in a traffic crash. Police spoke to both drivers and determined one was intoxicated. Kubiak was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

Dorota H. Redzisz, 39, of the 5100 block of North East River Road in Chicago, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. on June 13 in the 1500 block of Carol Court and charged with forgery. The investigation began with a report in April. Detectives later determined Redzisz had taken two checks and signed them without the owner's permission.
