Hull FC have shown an interest in signing Fiji international Joe Lovodua.

Hull Live understands the 23-year-old, who can play as a hooker, loose-forward and at second-row, is attracting interest from the Super League and the Black and Whites are thought to be keen.

In their bid to make changes and freshen up the playing squad over the off-season, the club have been considering a number of options and Lovodua is one on their radar, having impressed this season while playing in South Sydney Rabbitohs’ New South Wales Cup team.

The Fijian has only been with the Rabbitohs for a season, having spent three years at St George Illawarra Dragons before then and while he hasn’t made an NRL appearance, he doesn’t lack experience.

Lovodua has made over 50 appearances in the NSW Cup throughout his career, scoring six tries and honing his craft in a highly competitive competition.

He has also made seven appearances for Fiji, playing a key role as a teenager in the 2017 World Cup, with his last outing coming in the win over Papua New Guinea in 2019.

It is believed his involvement with the international side would help ensure he gets a work permit to play in the Super League, should he make the move to the Northern Hemisphere.

This season Lovodua has made 11 appearances for Souths' second string and scored two tries with a majority of his appearances coming as a loose-forward.

However he has also showcased his creativity with four assists, while he is comfortable kicking, breaking the line and playing the full 80 minutes when needed.

As such, while he hasn’t quite done enough to catch the eye of Wayne Bennett this season, it’s no surprise that he is receiving admiring glances from the Super League.
