McLennan County sheriff’s office is assisting along with the Texas rangers and Bruceville-Eddy police in the investigation of a murder suicide.

Officers responded around 7:30am Saturday to a call of two shots being fired a home located on Woodlawn Drive and I-35.

Sheriff McNamara said there were at least two children in the home at the time of the shooting. [The children] were trapped in the home for at least two hours before the swat team arrived.

The children are safe at a neighbor’s home.

Based on preliminary investigations the male shot the female and then himself. The apparent couple had a documented history of domestic disputes.

Family has been notified, but identities have not yet been released.
